Good bye to my first childhood friend

Eleanor was the first good friend I ever had as a child. We would play together at recess, and at each other's houses. I remember how eager we were to see the forsythia bloom in the school yard, and how we would give each other little handmade gifts. We also loved exploring the creek behind my house, and one day followed it all the way to its source--which to our amazement turned out to be next door to Rhonda Spaulding's house!

Eleanor had four sisters, and the family lived in lovely old house on the corner of Sappington and Lindbergh. Her mother was so kind. They had a black cat that liked to sit in the corner of the window. She liked to draw, and so did I, and we spent many quiet and happy hours just coloring. I'm sure her artistic talents were much appreciated by her pupils later on. She was such a creative woman.
After leaving Concord, our paths diverged...LSH was such a huge school, and old friendships tended to become diluted.

I believe Eleanor was a Christian, so I look forward to renewing our friendship in the future.
