Collections, Collectives and Communities

I would save the word "community" for participation of persons in a body larger than themselves. (thus, the three Persons of the Trinity are a Community, because they all participate in One Substance.)

I would use the word "collection" to describe socially-constructed groupings of individuals where each individual retains its particularity.
(as in a stamp or coin collection)

And I would use the word "collective" to describe groupings of individuals where that particularity is lost (as in a communist collective)

Collections focus on the many
Collectives focus on the one
Communities focus on the oneness of the many
