"Reason" and "Heart"

Premoderns viewed "reason" as having two parts: "ratio" (discursive reason/step-by-step, objective logic) and "intellectus" (intuition/immediate, subjective knowing). "Heart" was seen as the locus of will/choice. The problem is that we now live in a reductionist modern/postmodern world, where as Peter Kreeft argues, "Reason" has been reduced simply to discursive logic; and similarly, "heart" has been reduced simply to feeling/emotion.
