Because
of we now our dominated by a modern, nominalist metaphysic, it is
impossible to make the distinction between a being/"substance" and a
condition/"accident" of that being. The only things that we accept as
real are discrete particulars. This is why we can no longer understand how to love the sinner (the "substance") and hate the sin (the "accident").
What if our metaphysic needs transforming?
