My friend Brad's mom died yesterday, after 15 years of dementia. Here is part of what I wrote him:
My mom also had dementia. Once, when she no longer knew who I was, or could hardly speak coherently, I sat by her bed as she napped. She stirred, woke, looked at me, and clearly said, "Beth, it's so important to love Jesus." Then she went back to that clouded place, but I found such encouragement from that little episode. I realized she had one foot in this world, and the other in the next. Already, but not yet...but now our moms see Him face to face.
