Dick's Sporting Goods: "Enough is Enough."

Almost all Dick's stores no longer sell firearms. Ed Stack, the CEO, made that decision over time, from Rochester, 9/11, Sandy HOok, and culminating in Parkland. " The shooter in Parkland...I found out we sold him a shotgun a couple of months before he committed the murders in Parkland, and when that happened, I said, 'Enough is enough. The system is broken.' At that point we need to stand up and say something. We've got expertise here, we know what's going on. We have to try to solve this problem."

It cost Dick's a quarter of a billion dollars in lost sales.

Stack continues: "If we had a chance to do it all over again, we'd do it all over again, exactly the same way....

"Every so often there comes a moment when you have to stop thinking about your company solely as an engine for making money and broaden your view to consider its role in American life."
