Beth, have you posted on the distinction between imparting and imputing Christ's righteousness? I completely agree with you, but I'm wondering if you have a handy link or resource for those who may not understand your words! :)This "pastor" also seems not to know how to read the OT through the incarnation and good news in Christ Jesus. Rather, he lives as an OT believer, and claims NT life!
Hi Beth, great article. Typical Christians living in legalism. It is sad.I agree and disagree with your last statement, though. While I agree with what you are saying... that righteousness is in no ways earned (Galatians 3); it is a supernatural impartation by the Spirit. I would have to disagree with you saying it is imparted and not imputed. This Righteousness of God is MORE than an impartation. An impartation denotes that it is "added to" what we already have. This is not the case. Rather; when we are born again, our old nature was destroyed, cut off, and an entirely new nature was GIVEN, as a FREE GIFT! This nature was a 100% Righteous nature, and it was IMPUTED upon us. A supernatural transaction unexplainable to man's small mind. :-)The original translation of Romans 4:11 explains that nicely.Anyways, that's my thoughts. Just wanted to add it in there. But I agree with your sentiments on this Baptist Pastor. Sounds a bit Pharasaical in my opinion...Trust me... God WON'T kill Obama. Whatever killed that other bloke, wasn't God. It was life. God will give every man equal opportunity to be "saved".
I wasn't sure where to post my comment, so I'll do it here. I'm agnostic, but it's so refreshing to see a religiously positive blog giving an uplifting perspective instead of the usual association of God and/or Jesus with death and punishment.
