Joanna, our high school junior, has finally finished the Walt Whitman unit in her lit class, after much agony and gnashing of teeth. Today they moved on Robert Frost. Curled on the sofa, she opened her homework packet. "Listen to this," she called to me. "'Frost describes freedom as
moving easily in harness. That's like what we have in Christianity!"
She settled deeper into the cushions and began reading poetry aloud to me as I worked in the kitchen. "This is good. I can go into Christmas with this," she declared.
